A happy day

Yesterday was my birthday, we had a simple brunch out with the kids and a simple dinner with my mum. No special celebration and late night out but I was happy and contended. I am really thankful and happy to be blessed with a happy family and lovely friends (who came over specially to celebrate my birthday).

Back to school

Kingsley went back to school after 3 weeks of rest at home.  For the past 2 months he had stomach flu twice, suspected hfm once just because of 1 ulcer, private part infection which led to thrush due to antibiotics side effect.  And during that period his class had 3 confirmed cases of hfm, fearing his low immunity we decided to keep him at home which means I had to look after 2 kids, cook and do chores.

The first week was easy with the help of hubby but the second and third week I was all alone. I would say Kingsley is a good boy and a great helper but he still throw tantrums ocassionally and refused to nap. He will help me out with mei mei and even ask pat and ask her not to cry. I am missing my little helper when I was preparing for Gwyneth's bath time today.

I guess I will keep Kingsley home a few days in a mth to have some bonding time till I go back to work again, such opportunities are rare.

Kingsley, thanks for being a good brother and mummy's little helper.

Good job!

Chatty Kingsley

When he first started school in mid feb 2013, he can only talk word by word and not good at expressing himself. Having being to school for less than a year, now he is able to articulate himself better and have conversation with us.

Whenever we are dressing up to go out he will tell me mama wear dress nice. He even took one of my stripe dress and asked me to wear it saying that it is nice like zebra.

We are happy that he has been learning in school. I am also trying to teach and read to him more when I have the time especially on chinese.

He can engage in conversations with almost everyone when he is not grouchy.  We hope you maintain your outgoing nature. :)

Halloween in school

It is Kingsley's first Halloween in school. We didnt really buy him any costume, I remember my friend gave Kingsley a tigger  costume so I dug it out and let him try. Luckily he still can fit in it and he is willingly to wear it. (Save some money buying him new custume). We bought him the pumpkin bucket for putting his treats and some chocolates and jellies as his treats to his little friends.

Unforgetable Children's Day for Kingsley

Last friday was Children's day, Kingsley was supposed to have celebration in school. At about noon, hubby received a call from the principal telling us that he had 1 ulcer at his left cheek wall and rashes on his leg, which they suspected was hfmd. That got us very worried as Gwyneth is still small.

But we are quite sure he was having those hfmd symptoms as the day before we just checked his mouth, it was perfectly ok. But to play safe since Gwyneth is still young, Kingsley and hubby moved to my in n law house temporarily till monday for review.

Luckily everything was ok and the pd certified that he was not suffering from hfmd. The letter which caused us a few hundred bucks.

To our dear Kingsley, daddy and mummy dont wish to see you fall sick as not only do you throw tantrum like nobody business which make you lost your voice, you also refuse to take medicine which make your illness taking longer to recover. It pains us seeing you in that state. We hope that you will stop putting everything in your mouth and stay healthy and happy as always.

We wish you a happy children's day!

Happy Birthday, Singapore

This year is the second year hubby has to work on national day. For 2 consecutive years he has been involved in staging the Ndp stage. Sad to say, we didn't have the chance to attend the actual day parade - last year Kingsley was only 1 year old and he may not be appreciative of the aircrafts or the fireworks, this year we are stuck at home due to my confinement.

But glad that we are still able to watch the air craft display and the fireworks (though block by some tall office buildings) from our house.

Happy National Day!

23 months old

1 more month to the terrible 2. Kingsley has grown alot, he can speak in proper sentences (some of the words he may not be able to pronounce clearly) and he can even repeat after what you said.

Recently he also pick up the habit of biting his friends in school. According to one of his teacher, he has been bitten a few times by one of his classmate and the classmate wasn't disciplined by the teachers. Hence leading him to learn biting is the way to go, which I don't agree. I have been disciplining him on this as I don't wish he being outcast by his friends due to bitting and causing injuries and pain to his little friends, which I am sure he himself doesn't want that to happen too.

22 months old!!

The different moments of Kingsley..

Thank you, Teacher Kyra!

As the title says it, we were also sad to know that teacher Kyra is leaving to further her studies. Not surprising as she is indeed very young. She joined the childcare just a week after Kingsley started his, which explained why they have this special affinity.

I remember witnessing him running towards and hugged her after not seeing her for days as she was on mc. She is a nice and caring teacher and Kingsley was good under her care.

This is parts and parcels of life, different people come and go. But your good will always be remembered by us and of course Kingsley. Hope he will get to meet you again some day. :D

Both teacher and I had done a photo collage of the two of them.

Learning to speak his mind

The boy has become responsive to our questions and he even speaks his mind.

Example 1

We were getting ready to go out on one weekend morning, I had dressed him with an overall. Initially, he loves it and keep looking into the mirror. But after awhile he started to remove the buckle and ket telling us pain pain. So ok, I removed the overall and asked hubby to let him wear a shorts instead. Then the boy refused to wear, he shook his head. So they had this conversation.

Hubby: Why are you not wearing your shorts?
*Kingsley shaked his head*
Hubby: You don't like the color?
Change another shorts? Red? Match your top?
*Kingsley nodded his head*

Example 2

One morning he run to the fridge and took one apple and told me he wants apple.
After finishing the apple, he went to the fridge again and took another apple. So I had this conversation with him.

Me: Kingsley, you just finished an apple. One day one apple ok?
*Kingsley holding the apple in his hand and refused to give me*
Me: Kingsley, one day how many apple?
Kingsley: Two apple (though his finger showing one)

Now with him being able to decide and choose, it is harder to get him to change into his uniform in the morning. We have to spend time coaxing him. But well definitely a great progress for him.

While Daddy is away

Hubby is away for ict again.. Sigh, leaving Kingsley and me to entertain each other. The worst part is I need to send him to school every morning and he is now weighing 11kg, tiring to my arms. :( getting him to walk most of the distance is rather hard as i need to rush for work and he tends to stop and wave to people. So I have no choice but to carry him..

My 20 month old

Kingsley turned 20 month old.. He has become a cheeky little boy with an obsession with cars and planes recently. I guess that are all boys' (regardless of small and big obsession..

He had adapted to school and we are happy that he enjoyed him self in school.. One of the down side of him going to school is having the fear of him falling sick esp when there are cases of hfmd in school. But I guessed that can't be avoided.

Words added to his vocabulary
Gong gong, po po, car, apple, bread, poo..

Sometimes he will also try to imitate what we said.

Happy Snake Year!!

This is Kingsley second lunar new year. As usual on day 1 we went to the temple at Killiney with my in laws. Before house visiting, we went ion orchard for breakfast. The malls were rather empty and Kingsley was happily running around.

The lunar new year holidays are gone in a blink. Wish that it was longer.

We would like to wish everyone a happy lunar new year and may good health, abundance, prosperity and wealth be with you and your family in the year of Snake!

Sickly March

Kingsley got a throat infection and was down with fever, throat inflammation, flu and cough 2 weeks ago. We didn't send him to the childcare for 4 days till his fever subsided. Last week both hubby and me were down with high fever, flu and cough. And we have yet to be fully recover from our flu and cough. Kingsley is sick again due to the previous flu, the mucus are still stuck in his nasal.

What is worst, his childcare is having hfmd cases. We had to stopped sending him to class as his immune system was low. So in total he didn't attend many classes since his school starts. What a waste of money.. :(

First week of school

We sent Kingsley to the full day childcare on 18 feb 13. We were on 3 days leave to accompanied him through this transition.

Day 1 was a half day program, in the morning we sent him in and initially he was quite happy with all the toys and the new environment. Subsequently he became very worried about us leaving, he kept following behind me, pulled my shorts and asked me to bao (carry in Chinese). This sent tears to my eyes seeing his innocent face. I kept telling myself is for his good to learn and interact with other kids. We left at about 10 plus and let him stayed until 12 plus. We were told by the teachers that he was ok after we left, just occasionally sobbing.

Day 2 we picked him up at 3. In the morning when we left the childcare he was wailing. Later in the morning he was ok and they even went to the bukit merah library. But he didn't sleep a wink. :( which makes him super cranky in the evening.

Day 3 the school had a lunar new year celebration which is the lion dance, all parents are invited. Kingsley love lion dance so we were there to share his fun.

Day 4 was an improvement in his nap time he manage to sleep for 10 mins. Teacher told us the rest of his time he spent on chatting with them and patting his little friends back to sleep, like their little helper.

Day 5 he managed to sleep for 20 mins. Happy that he is adapting to the childcare.

Daddy and mummy hope that next week you can happily bid us goodbye.

Happy 18 months!!

It has been awhile since I update the blog.. A lot of back logs that I wish to post, shall be more active from now.

How fast, Kingsley is already 18 months and next week he will be embarking on his new journey; going to the childcare. We hope he can adapt to the new environment, have fun learning and interacting with little friends.

His milestones:

1) Adding more words to his vocabulary (ball, bubble)
2) Almost all his teeth are out or emerging.
His motor skills - running, kicking and throwing.
