Busy week!

Last week was a busy week, with Kingsley running a high fever for 2 days due to ENT (ear, throat, nose) infection. His temperature hovered around 38 plus 39 for 2 days, kept us awake every half an hour to monitor and sponge him. Finally on Friday morning his temperature dropped down to 37 and back to normal later in the afternoon.

But little did we know that he had an allergy to thee prescribed antibiotic (augmentine). Rashes broke out on his face and body, and he was having a serious diaper rash partly due to diarrhoea (side effect of antibiotic). He will cry and wailed when we want to change his diaper, and he will waved no when i take the rash cream.

Cheeky act

Last Monday he did something very naughty, he pushed the sofa bench to the tv console and climbed onto the bench so as to reach out for the things on the console. I was so angry i slapped his leg and carried him in my arms. As if he knew I was angry, he lifted both side of my face with his tiny palms and kissed my lips.

That melts my heart and soothe my anger.

Visit to the Library

We have been buying books for Kingsley to cultivate his interest in reading. With the great variety of kids books available and kids' attention on his new things, makes borrowing from the library a cheaper alternative.

Last weekend we visit our nearby library, the books are rather new and the range of selection are wide. We borrowed a total of 18 books for the boy.

Kingsley was so excited at the library, he went around pulling out the book s and playing with other kids.

His room

We took the chance to re organise the boy's play area, while we had a mini renovation to the windows. Ever since his birth, our hall has became his play area, with all his toys and mat cluttering all over, which limit the space he can run about.

Weekly dosage of gym

He started his gym last month, 10 lessons of free play and 10 lessons of instructor guided class. He seems to be loving it, running around and playing with other kids.

Although the lessons required parents to accompany the kids, there have arrange a 10 mins session where the teachers will stayed with the kids while they play with the toys. This helps the kids to cope with separation anxiety. For the 10 mins Kingsley didn't look for us, maybe too distracted by the toys.

Self feeding in training

We are training him to feed himself so that i no longer need to eat cold food and hubby doesn't need to gobble down his food.

Started with his breakfast meal, as cereal is more textured. Not an easy task as he tends to mess around with the cutleries and the food. It is always so messy with food on the floor, his clothes, high chair almost everywhere.

His potent bite

The boy has been biting us to express his excitement and anger. His bite often left us bruised. :( we have tried beating him and explaining to him it is not right to bite, but he doesn't seem to remember. We are really worried that he may hurt other kids when he goes to the childcare. We really do hope he will grow out of it soon.

Polliwog yet again..

We brought Kingsley to polliwog at Robertson quay on his first birthday. Last week we went back together and this time with his little friend Tristan.

The place was rather packed that day especially with 1 birthday party. On weekends there is a limited playtime of 2 hours. After the 2 hours of playing, the kids zonked out.

My personal shopper

On one of his tantrum day, we took turns to carry him and walk around the mall so that we can eat our meal. Then hubby came back and told me the boy pointed to a dress in a shop and started to say "mama mama". I find it amusing so I insisted on trying it on and decided to buy it.

Weekend meals

Normally on weekdays I don't get the chance to cook for my boy so I am trying to make it a habit to whip up nutritious meals on weekends. For the past 2 weekends I cooked,

Colourful porridge - added in minced pork, fish, carrot, sweet potato, potato and broccoli.
Steam tofu and egg with minced pork
Steam fish (thread fin)
Steam tofu and minced pork
Corn soup
Apple soup
Carrot, potato and tomato soup

I got some of the recipes from the book "Feed your child right". This book is a good read, it touches on the nutrients that a child need at different stages and also included many recipes .

My first steps..

He is finally confident enough to let go off his grip and walk on his own. Normally my father in law will hold him and walk to me when I reached home after work. But on Thursday he decided to do it himself. Though the distance was short, it's a good start.
He did it again today, carrying his toys from one place to another.

1 more month to toddlerhood

Today is Kingsley 11th month, can't believe he is turning 1 soon. This little tot has become very active and curious over everything, he loves cruising and exploring every part of the house like our little inspector.

Development at the end of 10-11 months

1) 8 teeth have grown out
2) Say pa pa, da da, ma ma, na na, and ya ya
3) Point at the things he wants
4) Able to walk a few fast steps without holding in his playpan.

Last sat, I was talking to my Bestie on training Kingsley to sleep on his own as his before sleep routine now is much dependent on us - he will cry for us to carry him to bed and sleep by his side until he falls asleep, if not he will want me to feed him milk. Then she mentioned he is not even one, you should cherish all these time with him before he grows up and no longer need you to coax him to sleep. After much thought, it's quite true, soon he will grow up and wants privacy just like daddy and mummy then. So cherish every moment with your little one.

Mini LEGO figurines

I chanced upon the display of a section of the marina floating platform made from Lego bricks outside Bugis Intercontinental Hotel. Heard from hubby that the display is to raise fund for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and will be on display at the actual platform on National Day.

Each $5 donation you will get to doll up 2 mini Lego figurines, of which 1 will be placed on the floating platform seats and the other is kept as a token of appreciation.

We made 3 Lego figurines.

"Pa Pa" and "Da Da"

Kingsley mouthed "Pa Pa" and "Da Da" this afternoon, I immediately texted Hubby who was on ict that his son knows how to call him. His reply was he is not seeing me and calling me so factually he is not calling me. That is true, being able to mouth those words are babies natural advancement so matching the word to the person is our role. But at least half the job is done when he knows how to say those words. Great improvement Boy!!

At his 9 months check up, the PD told us that he can say "Ah". Two more addition to his word list.

Daddy turns Hairdresser

We didnt shave Kingsley bald when he turned 1 mth old as hubby felt that his scalp was too tender then. At 8 mths old, his hair was rather long and thick. Being an active little one and with the terrible weather recently, he just keep perspiring causing his head to stink. Even sleeping in air con room doesnt help, so we decided to trim his hair.
Before
After (Not bad right)
The haircut happens to bear some resemblance of a little boy on BabyTV. Heehee.. Maybe that is where Daddy got his inspiration.

Happy Mother's Day

This year is my 2nd Mother's day, no celebration for me as I was down with wisdom tooth infection. We intend to celebrate with my mum in law on sat and mum on sun, but decided to cancel all plans since I can only eat porridge or soupy stuff. So we shall celebrate after my recovery from the extraction of those teeth.

Kingsley colored a card for me. Heehee.. Actually I assisted him by holding his hand, but he is more interested in eating the Crayons then coloring. Although not nicely done, Mummy still loves it because it is your first card to me.

My Mother's day card from Kingsley
All mothers are great. Numerous scarifices they have made from pregnancy to labour to raising the kid to watching them grow old yet asking for no return. I can now totally understand.

Happy Mother's day to my mummy and all.

Pasta meal

Finally I tried out the Bellamy's pasta stars for Kingsley's dinner.
Pasta stars

With the sauce

Ingredients for the sauce
Cherry Tomatos (skined)
Brocolli
Carrot
Minced Meat (Pork)

I find the sauce too watery, shall buy concentrated tomato puree to thicken it next time.
The boy love his pasta meal!! Glad that he likes it, love trying out new dishes on him. :D

Development at 9 months

1) Pointing
2) Able to stand without holding on for a few seconds
3) Mouth "Ah"

First Fever

The boy was hit by fever two weeks ago, it hits 38 degree as it was his first fever we brought him to a GP that evening. The GP prescribed us with liquid panadol for his fever and some green liquid for his cough. It was not easy to feed him his medicine, he refused to swallow it (esp cough syrup), worst still he vomitted everything out once. :( We were on 2 days child care leave to monitor his fever and also to catch some rest (waking up every 2 hours to sponge and measure his temperature was tiring).

Playing

It is indeed not easy to be working parents especially when the kids are sick and we have take leave to be with them, but there are so many things to do back in the office. But well, working is also to provide them with better living standard. Irony huh..

Turning 8 months

Brought him to the Hort Park to celebrate his 8 months, a nature excursion because Daddy complain that the boy had too much shopping. We wanted to bring him to those indoor playground but HFMD was on the high so decided to stay away from those places for the time being.
Where are we?

Do I look more like Mummy?
Or Daddy?

Having Fun with the slide

 His Developmental Progress

1) Able to pull himself to standing position
2) Walking around but assisted/Cruising
3) Clap hands (Mood dependent)
4) Waving
5) Baby way of saying Hello

He has yet to utter his first word. Not sure if he is slow, we are getting anxious to hear it. Hubby has been repeating Daddy, Daddy, Mummy, Mummy everyday to him, hoping that one day he will surprise us.

Eczema NO MORE!!

He was hit by a full blown of red rashes on his face, limbs and body since 3 months old. We were so worried that we will never see his baby smooth skin again. We went to the PD and were advised to apply steriod cream on the affected areas. I personally find steriod too harsh on his tender skin so I started looking for alternatives. Through friend's recommendation, I decided to give California Baby Calendula cream, shampoo and body wash a try. We were so desperate to cure him. Luckily we tried and the cream did wonders. We religiously keep his skin moisturise as eczema love dry skin. The boy finally recovered, really hope he will grow out of it.

Happy 7 Months Old

Time files, Kingsley turned 7 months yesterday. No jab for him this month, so off we went to bring him for a little celebration. Wanted to try Antoinette at Scarlet Hotel for some pastry and tea, however it was drizzling hence inconvenient for us to walk over. We ended up at Vivocity, indulging ourselves in Max Brenner, Chocolate Truffle Heart Cake. One of my favourite warm chocolate cake, the one I had at North Borders is still the best. We ordered their Italian thick hot chocolate too, but it wasnt served and yet we were being billed. Boohoo..

The boy enjoyed posing with his cake, he didnt get to eat, I think he is too young for such sweet stuff. So we finished everything for him. Mummy will bring you there when you are older ok?
Staring at his cake..

Excited!!

Development at end of 6 months

1)  Can sit up on his own
2)  Learning to stand

Happy 7 months old Kingsley!! We love you.. :D

His First CNY

A belated post on CNY.

Last CNY he was still in my tummy and now here he is going visiting with us. He even knows how to do the Gong Xi Gong Xi hand gesture. HeeHee.. On Chu yi hubby was down with the CNY flu so we rested at home, visiting only starts on Chu er. Subsequently the boy and me also caught the virus and were sick too. What a CNY with everyone falling sick! Luckily, the boy recovered in time for his 6 months jab so we dont have to postpone it.
Gong Xi Fa Chai

We managed to spend quality time with the boy as my in laws went overseas so we took leave. I also take this chance to introduce porridge to him and glad that he loves it.
